Assassin’s Creed Movie to Begin Shooting This Summer

Release date to be August 2015

The long-awaited Assassin’s Creed movie is reported to begin shooting in August of 2014, according to Ubisoft Motion Picture Executive Producer, Fannie Pailloux. Not much is known yet about the film’s contents, and the staff and cast is still being put together. Swedish director/producer Daniel Espinosa is reportedly at the top of the running to become director, although it has not been confirmed. Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class, Fable III: voice of Logan) is currently locked in to play Desmond Miles, and also as a supporting producer. As far as what will be in the movie remake of the popular Assassin’s Creed series, IMDB’s description is:

“A bartender is captured by a large corporation and is forced into a machine, named ‘The Animus’, allowing him to relive the memories of his ancestors — most of whom are Assassins — to retrieve powerful and dangerous artifacts.”

As nerds, we can only hope that this movie will do justice to the beloved series. Hollywood has a way of taking good things and, shall we say, overdoing them. Luckily, Assassin’s Creed is definitely packed with the action that directors love to stuff into movies. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that in August 2015, we’ll be watching Desmond become an assassin with all the excitement and joy that the games brought us.
