EVGA Releases PSU Intel Haswell Compatibility List

Well Intel Haswell has been released and EVGA has been pretty quiet on the power supply front as far as what is and what would not be compatible with Intel Haswell. Well EVGA may be late to the party but they have confirmed that all of the EVGA PSUs will be compatible with Intel Haswell C6 and C7 idle power states. The quick story is that Intel Haswell drops idle power consumption from 0.5 amps that Ivy Bridge operates at, to 0.05 amps that Intel Haswell’s C6 and C7 gets it to. This is a 10x improvement from Intel’s third generation to the forth generation of processors. This is definitely one thing that Intel got right over Haswell as far as a huge improvement.

Much like all the other manufactures that have released compatibility list, EVGA PSU’s  are all fully compatible. Typically is has been the lower end and non 80+ rated PSUs that have not been compatible with Intel Haswell. So if you are one of the lucky ones that has been using EVGA PSUs then you have nothing to worry about as far as if you upgrade to Intel Haswell processor and chip. Also you do not have to use the new C states since they can be turned off in the BIOS per Intel’s instructions to manufactures when building the new motherboards and chipsets for Haswell.
