Back in October is was reported by multiple outlets that Games for Windows Live would be shutting down from an article published about Age of Empires Online, which apparently has since been removed, on July 1st, 2014. While this is not a big deal considering most games you buy as a PC gamer probably came from either Steam, Origin, or Uplay but what about those older games you may have bought that required Games for Windows Live accounts? I know I still have a couple that required a login. While Microsoft has not made any announcements a list compiled by Joystiq’s Steven Wong which shows that some publishers and studios have taken active steps to make sure you will be able to play your legitimately bought games if Games for Window Live does indeed shut down. You can check out his list here.

Now keep in mind this list is incomplete by either just not having every game on the list or that the publisher or studio hasn’t responded to any inquires about the future of their titles. Looking at the list though it seems any games that Microsoft has a hand in directly will not be updated currently but other popular games such as Bioshock 2, Fallout3, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Batman: Arkham City have been moved over permenatly to Steam to make sure they keep working.

At the time of this article it is about five months until Games with Windows Live will be discontinued so alot can happen between now and then especially with Microsoft not really saying one thing or another.
