Build a Gaming PC: Mount the Motherboard

Almost there! We are now getting to the juicy part of the build, installing the motherboard. After this there are just a few more steps and we are ready to fire up our brand new kick ass gaming rig.

Lay your case on its side and then check to make sure you have no debris, stickers or anything else on the backside of your motherboard. If there is a serial number there do not remove it but go ahead and write that down now. Next, carefully place your motherboard in your case aligning the connecting ports on your motherboard with the ports on the I/O shield you installed earlier. Once that is aligned, check to see all of your screw holes on your motherboard are aligned with the motherboard standoff screws you installed earlier. With the NZXT H440, there is a peg that the motherboard sits on to hold it in place. If you don’t have that, go ahead and insert a screw on the very middle screw hole. This will help hold the motherboard in place while you tighten the rest of the screws in. Do not over tighten the screws, you can crack your motherboard! Now that you have finished mounting your motherboard, you can stand your case back up.
