AMD Richland APUs Set to Release in June
AMD’s newest generation of Accelerated Processing Units (APU), code-name Richland, are scheduled to release this June. In the month before their release, 3 pictures have surfaced of the AMD Richland APU’s. We’ll take a look at both the CPU and GPU specs.
AMD A10-6800K
The first AMD Richland APU displayed is the A10-6800K APU. The AMD A10-6800K displayed above carries the part # AD680KWA44HL, 4 piledriver cores stock clocked at 4.1GHz with a maximum 4.4GHz turbo mode frequency, and a HD 8670D GPU clocked at 844Mhz. The A10-6800K will come with an unlocked base clock multiplier, offering all you overclockers a chance to test its limits.
AMD A10-6700
The second image of the AMD Richland APU displayed is the A10-6700 APU. The AMD A10-6700 shown above carries the part # AD67000KA44HL, 4 piledriver cores stock clocked at 2.7GHz with a maximum 4.3GHz turbo mode frequency, and a HD 8670D GPU clocked at 844Mhz. The A10-6700 will not come with an unlocked base clock multiplier.
AMD A4-4400
The last APU set to be released is the AMD Richland APU A4-4400. The AMD A4-4400 shown above carries the part # AD40000KA23HL, 2 piledriver cores stock clocked at 3.7GHz with a maximum 2.9GHz turbo mode frequency, and a HD 8370D GPU clocked at 760MHz. The A4-4400, being the entry-level model of the AMD Richland APU generation, will have a locked base clock multiplier. Oddly enough, this is the only chip made in Malaysia; the other 2 are made in China.
Overview and GPU Specs
The physical design of these chips has not changed. They will be backwards compatible with the FM2 socket, but could require a BIOS update like we saw with the AM3 motherboards.
Both GPUs will support Direct X 11.1, Open GL 4.1, Open CL 1.2, and Shader Model 5.0. The spec’s however are slightly different.
