The Future Of Gaming Looks Very Bright

The Game Awards was on over 45 different platforms all over the world last night. This show wasn’t just cobbled together by any means. They even had a live orchestra with Hans Zimmer leading the way. The show started off with a bang with the first winner of the night being Red Dead Redemption 2 which is no surprise really considering all the hype the game has received throughout the year.

This wasn’t just a show to announce winners. There were so many announcements of upcoming games for the future. This started with Ultimate Alliance being announced for the Nintendo Switch.

The show even had big stars show up throughout the night like Jonah Hill. He presented the Industry Icon award to Gregory A. Thomas. You may know for the countless classics he’s been a part of throughout the years like the various 2k games that have dominated consoles and PC games alike.

The Game Awards even took time out to recognize Ablegamers who have spent their time helping people all over the world through gaming and by showing that technology can help people who are disabled learn things they may have never thought they could before.

Rosa Salizar and Cristoph Waltz presented the award for Best Performance. Roger Clark and Arthur Morgan won for Red Dead Redemption 2.

John Sebastian Decant appeared next to unveil the Far Cry New Dawn coming February 15, 2019.

The world premiere of Hades looks like a cross between art from Nightstalkers and Diablo gameplay, very cartoonish looking.

Ancestry: A Human Odyssey is a game showing that there are many titles in the pipeline next year. These games that aren’t just based on best-selling franchises, but new original content that people can look forward to. There are plenty of new titles that will keep everybody busy for a long time to come with these new titles.

The next game being premiered was Scavengers which has some really nice artwork for the game. This game comes from some of the same people who have worked on Halo and others, so you know what kind of worlds you can expect with this game.

Brandon Eury of Panic At The Disco was up next to present the award for the Best Score/Music category. And the award went to Red Dead Redemption 2 who has swept the awards show for the night up to this point.

They presented awards that weren’t apart of the main show and these awards finally spread them out beyond Red Dead Redemption for the night.

The creators for Dead By Daylight stopped by to world premiere a new chapter to the Dead By Daylight game.

BioWare is releasing Anthem. This is a game that’s had rumblings without any real information about it, but tonight showed more details for the game with a brand-new trailer. The game looks amazing from the trailer shown.

Han Zimmer and the orchestra did an amazing job on music from the game Anthem.

Old Favorites And New Releases To Be Expected In 2019

Crash Bandicoot showed up to The Game Awards! Crash stopped by to announce Crash Team Racing which looks like a Mario Kart type of game.

2 voices from God of War were up next to present the award for Content Creator Of The Year. And the award went to Ninja who has had a major year as the number 1 streamer on Twitch. Ninja has become so big that he’s even on commercials for various products on TV.

The creator and Game Designer for Fallout came out to show the world their new game called the Outer Worlds. With these guys behind this game, you know it will be big in 2019.

This show has been chock full of world premieres for new games coming out in the new year.

Joel McCale was out next to present the award for Best eSports Player which went to Sonic Fox who came out with their Sonic Fox attire for the event. They did take their Sonic Fox head-piece off for a minute to really show love to his teammates as well as the LGBT community. He also wanted to give a shout out to the Furry community as well.

Brian Bell and Rivers Cuomo from Weezer showed up to present the next performance which was Devil Trigger by the composer of Devil May Cry with Ally Edwards on Vocals.

Atlas is a brand-new MMO that’s coming out next week meaning you aren’t going to have to wait for brand-new games to play.

Dragonball Fighters won Best Fighter Game and Overcooked 2 won the award for Best Family game. Best Strategy Game winner was Into The Breach.

Ninja and Pepe from the Muppets were up next to present the award for Best Independent Game and winner of this category was Celeste.

The Game Awards Is  A Big Winner Of The Night

The Game Awards was the number 1 trending topic on Twitter for the night showing just how big gaming really is.

MTG has a 1,000,000 Mythic invitational for those of you who want to check that out and if you use the code GameAwards you will get an eSports starter kit to get the ball rolling in the Arena, but this code may have only been good for the night so I’m sorry if you didn’t get in on that while it was happening.

Daniel Lanois and Rhiannon Giddens came out to sing a song from the Red Dead Redemption 2 score in an acoustic medley.

The creators of Stranger Things came out next to present the world premiere of the Stranger Things Video Game which is very nostalgic for 16-bit video games like the original Nintendo and Sega which fits in perfectly with the theme of the show.

The Best Sports And Racing Game was the next award given. Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat stepped up to present the award to Forza Horizon 4.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox showed up at The Game Awards to talk about how the console did for 2018 as well as what you can expect from Xbox in the future with some of the games that got a world premiere earlier in the show like Atlas. There is also Crackdown 3 which is coming for Xbox. Mr. Spencer also talked about how big 2018 has been for gamers and the world of video games as a hell. He then showed a preview of new Devil May Cry footage.

Lena Raine presented the award for Best Game Direction. God Of War won this category with big applause.

Donald Mustard came on to talk about Fortnite Season 7 and some of the things people can expect with the new season as well as the creative mode that’s coming up in a couple of weeks. This new mode sounds a lot like Minecraft in that you can build your own world in the Fortnite universe.

Avengers Infinity War Gets Major Applause

Joe and Anthony Russo come on stage to present the award for the Best Ongoing Game. They’re the Co-Directors for Avengers Infinity War. The games they’re awarding are ones that improve as they have gone on in their lifespan. The winner of this award went to Fortnite which has had a huge year thanks to creating the Battle Royale. Fortnite however, didn’t really start to shine until Battle Royale came out and has become a household name since.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is out tonight. People have loved Super Smash Bros since it came out on GameCube. There’s no doubt this will be a hit.

The Game Awards Orchestra played the Super Smash Bros Theme.

Next up is the big award of the night, The Game Of The Year. The Vice President of Blizzard Entertainment, Jeff Kaplan was the presenter for the award. The Game Awards Orchestra played a special medley of songs from all The Game Of The Year nominees. The award went to God Of War! A very surprising change for the night considering Red Dead Redemption took home the most awards throughout the night.

The Game Awards Orchestra played another song to take everyone out of the event.

Gamers Can Be Excited For What’s To Come

This awards show is a huge step in the gaming world. It goes to show you how connected the world of gaming made people in 2018. Gaming, in general, has become a major cultural influence in+ the world of entertainment as you could see by the big-name stars showing up for the ceremony. The show itself was much better produced then I thought it might be. Not only were there winners announced throughout the night, but the number of previews for upcoming games shows that there is no shortage of popular titles coming next year. I can’t wait to see the next big thing from these companies.
