AMD 5Gz FX-9000, and FX-8770 Specs Revealed
Sweclockers.com revealed specs for both the AMD FX-9000 and the AMD FX-8770. The AMD FX-9000, was previous the AMD 5Ghz chip that many were referring to as the AMD Centurion. While it’s not quite a centurion, it is yet another CPU to add to the Vishera line up. Also, it’s not truly 5Ghz, as the 5Ghz is only attainable while using turbo core is enabled. Either way, this little batch of silicon will likely reach clock speeds much higher than 5Ghz when all you overclockers get a chance to get your hands on it.

Fortunately for current AMD users like myself, the AMD FX-9000 and AMD-8770 with still be socket AM3+. Like most new release, we’ll likely need a short BIOS update in order to use these chips to their full potential. Once that’s accomplished we put these boys under water, and see what they’re capable of.
The FX-8770 data isn’t quite complete, but you understand it will likely be slightly lower than the FX-9000.
With every good thing there of course is always a down side. The TDP on both the AMD FX-9000 and the AMD FX-8770 is 220W, which is monstrous in comparison to the 125W TDP on the FX-8350. The price tag however is still unknown; Previous rumors about the AMD 5Ghz centurion CPU leaned towards $700 or more. Seeing that Haswell has now been out for a while and is likely going to be the main target for AMD, I doubt we will see prices that high at release.
