AMD adds FX-6350 and FX-4350 Desktop CPUs to Processor Line

AMD introduced us to two new CPUs today based on the 32nm “Vishera” silicon and “Piledriver” micro-architecture. They are the six core FX-6350, and the quad core FX4350 processors. Both of these chips were released to OEM only parts at the very end of last year and and now AMD is adding them to their retail channel. They will be in the PIB (processor in box) packages at the very affordable sub $150 price point.

The six core FX-6350 features a core clock speed of 3.90 Ghz, but in turbo core mode this chip gets up to 4.20 Ghz. It has 6 MBs of total L2 cache and 8 MBs of L3 cache. The quad core FX-4350 will be featured with a 4.20 Ghz clock speed right out of the box and a turbo core mode of 4.3 Ghz. The FX-4350 will have 4 MBs of L2 cache with a total of 8 MBs of L3 cache. The tech specs with the news also is saying that both chips will have a TDP of 125W and both be unlocked multipliers so overclockers can crank these up.

Reports are that the AMD will be pricing the FX-6350 possibly as low as $132 in the US while the quad core FX-4350 could be for as low as $122. This would be awesome for mid level building looking for a good CPU from AMD.

  1. Meh… decently priced maybe, but the performance per clock is still bad compared to Intel… AMD needs to get back in the game with the architecture!
