Want an AMD FX-9590 5 Ghz CPU? Then prepare to pay for it!
Awhile back we at ModCrash wrote an article about the rumored Centurion 5 Ghz AMD CPU, then we found out the “Centurion” would indeed be made but with just the average title of the AMD FX-9590. This CPU will sport a turbo core of 5 Ghz out of the box without any overclocking needed.
Now the AMD FX-9590 will be a limited edition CPU. If you want to look at the full specifications then you can check out Dorkstar’s article on it. From what I saw for pre-orders I figured this CPU would be on par with Intel’s extreme edition CPUs in price. Three companies have put the AMD FX-9590 up for sale for three different prices which are all in their own range.
So if you really want this CPU then you are going pay a pretty penny but you will be getting a limited edition hand picked AMD FX-9590 since that is the only way they were going to be able to have these clocked at 5 Ghz right out of the box. AMD didn’t want these sold individually because of the issues with cooling and compatibility with motherboards. The AMD FX-9590 will boast a 220W TDP which mean most likely only the very high end motherboards built for AMD will be able to use this CPU since mid and lower end motherboard just won’t have the VRM to handle the AMD FX-9590.
Overall I can’t say that this is a great buy but for the AMD lovers that have the cash to burn you can definitely own a one of kind CPU. Details on how many of these will actually be sold hasn’t been released but you can assume it probably won’t be in the hundreds of thousands. the AMD FX-9590 is probably a very solid CPU but I am curious at this point what it takes to keep this beast running cold since it doesn’t seem like an air cooler or low end closed loop cooler will do the trick.
