AMD Kaveri Dual Graphics Only to Work With R7 DDR3 GPUs

Information has come to light about another aspect of the new APUs. While dual graphics for AMD isn’t anything new to the APU world, the new information suggest that AMD Kaveri dual graphics will only be able to be achieved using specific R7 DDR3 memory specific graphics cards. While the predecessor to AMD Kaveri also could only use specific AMD GPUs, specifically any Radeon HD 6770, but was also in some cases compatible with DDR3 Radeon HD 7750.

AMD did show off a presentation containing charts that showcase how the A10-7850K when combined with a Radeon R7 240 (DDR3) mode, these chars are below.

While the two cards listed above are only entry level cards and not meant to do the heavy lifting for gaming the charts from AMD do show they make a difference when it comes to how well the games perform the cost of $60-90 bucks extra. Now considering the prices of a Radeon R7 260X or even the Radeon 270X it may be worth it to spend your money there but it also defeats the whole purpose of purchasing the APU in the first place. If you could find a good enough deal to run dual graphics I could see how it may be worth it especially with AMD Mantle being very highly touted for games optimized with that specific API such as Battlefield 4.

Sounds like the ideal thing would be if like the A10-6800K and have better GPUs “unofficially” compatible with the Kaveri APUs.
