AMD Test Drive Kicks Off With Free A10-6800k Systems!

AMD Test Drive

AMD Test Drive kicked off this week, with the first round of 95 participants being selected to test out a complete AMD A10-6800k PC.  Some of you may have heard about it, some of you may have gotten the e-mail, and some of you may of had no clue it even existed.  Regardless, I’ll fill you in on what it means to be part of AMD Test Drive and how you can possibly become a part of it in the future.

So What is AMD Test Drive?

The AMD Test Drive program, is a new a project started by AMD to let you, the community, test their gear.  While I don’t know what the future holds for the AMD Test Drive program, I can tell you what it’s about right now.  The individuals selected in the program will receive all the parts to build a complete system consisting of a AMD A10-6800K, motherboard, HDD, case, AMD memory, power supply, operating system, applications, and an optical disc drive.  Specifications on all of the hardware is unknown at the moment except for the A10-6800k, and “AMD memory”.  In return, AMD Test Drivers will publish articles, videos, comment on various sources of media, and guide other enthusiasts to become advocates of AMD.

Unconfirmed specs on the AMD Test Drive system.  (Pending Confirmation from AMD)

• AMD A10-6800K APU
• FM2 A85X motherboard
• 2×4 AMD Radeon™ RP1866 Performance Memory
• Fractal Arc Midi R2 Case
• Fractal Tesla R2 650W Power Supply Unit
• Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5″ 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive
• LG 24X DVD Burner
• Windows 7

It also should be mentioned, that in the agreement that all test drivers had to agree to, it stated that the test driver must post honest opinions regardless if they’re good or bad.  AMD also holds the right to terminate you from the program at any time, and you also have the option to resign from the program.  The systems sent out cannot be sold according to the agreement AMD Test Drive participants agreed to.  However, you do you get to keep them.

How to join AMD Test Drive

E-mails for the AMD Test Drive program went out on May 29th, inviting a select amount of individuals from AMD Fan Day events, and their AMD North American Influencer community.  According to the e-mail, only the first 95 responders were accepted into the program.  Those first 95 have already been notified that their systems will be shipping out in the next few weeks.

Gerald Youngblood, the Director of North American Marketing at AMD, posted a comment on AMD Blogs that stated there will be another wave of participants picked in the future.  If you wish to be a part of the AMD Test Drive program you should start by participating over at the AMD North American Influencer community.  While you’re at it, you also can win monthly prizes for participation and a grand prize at the end of the year.  I’m not sure there’s any other company out there that’s rewarding their community with free gear just for reading about the tech you love. (If there is please point me in their direction)

Clixxer and myself were both selected to be part of the AMD Test Drive program.  We’re excited to put the A10-6800k through some tough benchmarks and see what it can and can’t handle.  If there was a secret to being chosen, I would have let you guys in on that secret in this article.  As of right now, what I posted above is all I know.  However, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments.
