Confirmed by a World of Warcraft blue post from Lore, it’s unlikely battleground queues will become same-faction. Woes over the long battleground queues has become a hot topic as of late, with some players making the suggestion to have the battlegrounds become same faction. That would mean orcs would take arms against their troll brethren, and dwarves and gnomes would be left to duke it out (a rather comical image). But alas, lore fanatics can calm down – a blue post to the official World of Warcraft forums confirmed that’s unlikely battlegrounds will become same faction opponents. It’s worth noting, however, that rated battlegrounds are not saved from this exception. With the lower population queuing for RBGs, developers grudgingly agreed to stop limiting games strictly Alliance versus Horde. Personally, in my limited experience in RBGs (the life of a holy paladin in RBGs is lackluster at best), I sincerely loathed being against another Horde team. Not so much for the bastardization of lore, but for the confusion – sometimes my team ended up on the Alliance side of Arathi Basin. It just felt wrong playing beneath an Alliance flag, as though my poor blood elf shamed in some way and was in need of a shower.
Battleground Queues May Be Unchanged
While battleground queues are confirmed to unlikely become same faction opponents, Blizzard mentioned they are considering other ways to reduce the wait times. Other suggestions such as getting rid of battleground blacklists were brought up, but nothing has been decided yet. There is a possibility of the wait times simply remaining and there being no action taken to reduce the time, as the blue post mentioned there may not actually be an issue with waiting. As the upcoming patch 5.4.7 will be primarily focused on the new pvp season 15, there’s a possibility that if any change happens, it’ll likely be seen in PTR first.
