Have you ever purchased a game for pre-order and decided against it before it came out? Well while you could contact Steam support to get a refund you still had to submit support ticket. Well now according to the Steam forums you can cancel a pre-ordered game and get a refund without the hassle of actually going though Steam support to get this done. The only catch to this is if you are wanting a refund you have to do it prior to the game being released.
Steam Pre-Order Refund
If anything this is making Steam the place for digital distribution for games. I know personally I haven’t bought a game on a physical disk in a few years now and it just makes Steam easier to use if say you have pre-ordered Thief or another game and are having second thoughts it is now just a click away. Now currently it is not clear if Valve will refund the form of payment you used (credit card, debit card, ect) or just add money to your the Steam Wallet attached to your account. I’m sure someone will find out soon but since we don’t have have any games purchases for pre-order I can’t confirm anything but I am sure we will know soon enough. I for one would suspect that Valve would probably add it your wallet but that that opinion with a grain of salt.
If anyone does this let us know the results so we can update everyone else!
