Code Red Take No Prisoners Tournament Epic Fail

The tournament hosted by Boom TV ended up being a bust with possible Match Fixing

On 6-29-2019 at 3 pm est BoomTV ran a tournament for Call of Duty players with a $40,000 prize pool. From the start of the tournament, some competitor kills were not getting counted. This was a widespread issue that even caused BoomTVs services to go down. It took a while to fix but BoomTV finally got back up. It seemed that all technical issues were under control but reports continuously were coming in that some squad teammates were not getting points for their kills. More and more reports were coming in and instead of BoomTV addressing the issues they let the tournament continue. Reports of teams having all their stats rest started to come.

All of a sudden, teams were being split apart and then being placed into other random teams with all stats being reset. The reports were flowing in. More than 50% of the teams were reset, split and unable to play/track stats while teams that were unaffected were able to keep stacking points during this time. It was well over an hour. Instead of stopping the tournament and restarting until fixed, BoomTV let the tournament continue.

Boom TV admitted there were issues on Twitter

BoomTV acknowledges the issues. Their response was to have the team captains tally up the scores and turn in the information to support.

While this is a good idea, in theory, BoomTV did not take into consideration the 1+ hours that the majority of teams were unable to play with their assigned squads. Also, the time of troubleshooting in order to get credit for their wins and kills as well as the loss of connection to BoomTV services prevents accurate scoring. While there were many teams that were not affected by these issues kept building scores, those affected were unable to, regrettably making it impossible to remain contenders in the tournament. There is speculation that match fixing was involved because a lot of the teams that were not affected by these were top professional teams.

A Tournament reschedule needs to be done.

ModCrash along with the affected players of the unfortunate technical difficulties request that the tournament be redone in a fair, timeframe free of any technical difficulties. This will ensure that the tournament be free from any illegal match stacking or any other possible fraudulently applied practices. It is the duty of BoomTV once they offered an open tournament that all participants be given equal opportunity at the prize, as advertised. Failure to do so falls under False advertising and match stacking. Henceforth causing BoomTV to be legally liable for any damages as a result.

Boom TV Needs to keep a reputable name

Players invested several hours into the Code Red Live tournament, were forced to install software for BoomTV as well as gave advertising to BoomTV. With this in mind, BoomTV was able to monetize their company while scamming gamers in the process. If this was not the intention of BoomTV, then without any contest, BoomTV should have no issue with scheduling the tournament where all players have a fair, equal chance at winning.

Do the right thing Boom TV

Failure to reschedule the tournament will be grounds for ModCrash and ALL players affected by this match stacked competition to file a Class Action Lawsuit seeking more punitive damages for time and mental duress caused by the negligence of BoomTVs technical arrangements during the tournament as well as failure to halt the tournament at first signs of technical issues.
