EA Online Pass Program has been Dealt a Death Blow

EA Online Pass program going to the grave and gamers can rejoice!

EA online pass is a menace to gamers and if you play console games not very often then its doubtful that you probably will buy a new $60 game for your console especially if you are a PC gamer. If that is the case then second hand games that you buy off a friend, the internet, or Gamestop always looks attractive because of the discount you can get for waiting a couple months. Well in the past few years second hand games have had the screws put to them since most companies require you to buy their online pass to play their games in anything other than multiplayer.

Now the interesting about this is EA is decided to do this because of customer feedback. Yes you did read this correctly. EA took what us fans and users said and actually did something that we called them out on. While this could be true to EA is trying to get back into the good graces of us gamers after the debacle that was the Sims and being voted as the worst company, well ever.

Overall this is a win for gamers for console and i’m sure the second hand game market might see a boost with EA games in the future not having to worry about paying extra to play online. Since every game it seems these days being released has some sort of online gameplay and EA is still one of the biggest publishers this is pretty significant and will be interesting to see if other big publishers follow suit such as Activision, Sony, Ubisoft.

I personally don’t play console games to much other than the Halo series and Madden football since neither is really made for PC until years later in the case of Halo. I have debated buying games new vs used but for both of those games have found out you can maybe save a couple dollars only unless you plan on waiting a good year after their respective releases.

So does anyone have any thoughts on this? If you have been boycotting buying games from EA does this soften their image?
