With the move to the new console, Turn 10 has scrapped all car assets from the last 10 years and reworked EVERYTHING from scratch. The physics engine is new, the sounds are new, car renderings are new, and the tracks are all new. Hell, it’s all new because nothing has been carried over from the old titles. They even thought up new ways to show damage and natural wear on your vehicle.
Turn 10 content director John Wendl says:
“Even if you do don’t crash the car there’s going to be signs that you’ve gone to battle in this car. You’ll see carbon brake dust and rubber pieces and dirt and grime from the world… that is your story, it’s what you did in the car.”
This game will be so impeccably detailed that even the tailpipes will blue and discolor over time just by firing up the engine. Aside from all the detail that went into rendering the vehicles and their environment, there are other key features that make this the stand-out racer of the year and possibly the new bar for racing games period.
