Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Case – Best Bang for the Buck?

My Final Thoughts

I have never been a huge fan of mid towers. I have always liked the looks and design of Fractal cases and this is the first time I have gotten to play with one of their mid towers and I was not disappointed.

Noise and Cooling

Using just the stock fans and CPU cooler this rig isn’t 100% silent but pretty close. When you hit the power button you can hear the initial start up but after a few seconds it does quiet down enough that you’ll need silence to actually hear anything. Now with high performance air CPU coolers you might hear more but that is the nature of the beast, but I wouldn’t expect something to all the sudden be blazing loud. Overall this shouldn’t be of any concern especially if you were to maybe go out and get a closed loop cooler since this case can support up to four radiators.

Conclusion

My conclusion is this is one heck of a case. Like I said above I was not disappointed in this case and had a fun time doing a build in this one also. Amazon and Newegg have this case for $99.99 which seems right. Although you might think that $99.99 is slightly steep for a mid tower you can’t really view it as such. This case may lack the dimensions of a full tower but it has just as many features as one. The only thing this case lacks possibly against a full tower is more 5.25″ bays and room to fit a 360 mm rad.

One last thing about Arc Midi R2 case is I do indeed think it is the best bang for the buck when it comes to mid towers that require them to have performance and many features.

Pros:

  • Huge water cooling support
  • up to eight 3.5″ bays and ten for 2.5″
  • 3 Silent R2 Fans included
  • Easy cable management
  • Fits huge PSUs and GPUs
  • Removable HDD cages

Cons:

  • 5.25″ bays are not tool less
  • HDD or SSD trays aren’t tool less
