The Social Media Platform Will Be No More On April 2, 2019
If you haven’t heard already Google+ is closing down for good. It won’t close automatically though. They’re going to close down in stages. This is to make sure that everyone can get everything they have on the platform moved to another location. They don’t want people to lose their friends list, favorites, documents and things like that. Google+ started as a social media platform to compete as an alternative to places like Facebook and Twitter.
The Company Started Google+ In 2011 Slowly And In Phases
Google+ opened its doors around 2011 and has been trying to get people to get on the platform in various ways. The idea behind Google+ was to be a more personal alternative to the other social media platforms. The only problem is that Google+ never became as popular as those other platforms. It did ok when they first launched but had kinks to work out from day one and this could really be seen as a foreshadowing of the platform with the problems they’ve had throughout their existence. The original announcement was made in October of last year that Google+ was going to be closing down, but members of Google+ have just now started receiving emails to notify them that it would be closing down for good on April 2, 2019.
Google+ Went Through Multiple Changes In Its Lifetime, But Still Couldn’t Get People To Migrate
The company redesigned Google+ multiple times in its lifespan. Google did this for various reasons including security along with trying to make Google+ more inviting to people. Google+ still never took off like its counterparts. This probably won’t be the last foray into social media for Google. Hopefully, they’ve learned from this experiment and will come up with something more appealing next time. The final curtain call for Google+ is on April 2, 2019. This means you better get all your things in order if you don’t want to lose anything.
