Genius, the company behind the GX Gaming Maurus X FPS/RTS gaming mouse, has released the Maurus X in North America. The GX Gaming Maurus X is similar to other FPS gaming mice in the size and ergonomic design aspect, however it comes with a rather competitive price of only $49.90.
GX Gaming Maurus X Gaming Mouse Specs
The overall design features a rather large mouse with what appears to be a comfortable ergonomic design. The grips are made from rubber for “total control”, and appears to support both left-handed and right-handed gamers. The mouse also features a light system that illuminates the GX Gaming logo on the rear side of the mouse during “pause-break”. The mouse is connected VIA USB, and sports a 1.8 meter braided cable with a gold-plated connector.

The features of the GX Gaming Maurus X is a rather stacked portfolio. It was designed for both FPS and RTS players, and packs 6 buttons total to meet that goal. To assist you even further, the GX Gaming Maurus X offers up to 30 macro keys that can be assigned through the GX gaming software, Scorpion UI.
The Scorpion UI that comes bundled with the Maurus X, offers you ability to change your light options, macros, functions of your mouse buttons, and more advanced settings such as DPI, scroll speed, sensitivity, and double-click speed. Also appearing at the bottom in every screen of the Scorpion UI is the option to change to one of five available profiles.
The GX Gaming Maurus X offers the option to run the mouse at 800, 1600, 2400, or 4000 DPI. If you aren’t too current on gaming mice, anything over 3200 DPI is rather rare, and should make your cursor float much smother than a lower dpi. It also comes with on-board memory which is reported to give the mouse a 1ms response time, something Genius says is “8x quicker”. I’m not sure what 8x quicker is in reference to here, but I’m assuming they are speaking of the average mouse. In that case most gaming mice are “8x quicker”, but then again some are not.
To further your control of the GX Gaming Maurus X, they added a built-in 50g weight to keep this mouse on the desk. I’m a much bigger fan of mice with removable weights, so you can find that perfect weight for you. But then again, most of us either like heavy (which 50G should feel that way), or we like light mice. That’s all up to you.
