InFAMOUS Second Son Gameplay Preview & E3 Trailer

A inFAMOUS Second Son gameplay video was released recently that gives us a glimpse into just what inFAMOUS: Second Son is all about.  If you’re new to the inFAMOUS series, it’s completely worth your time to watch the E3 trailer, as it explains a bit about the history of Delsin Rowe and how he came about his powers.  Otheriwse, let’s check out what’s new in inFAMOUS Second Son.

inFAMOUS Second Son E3 Trailer

inFAMOUS Second Son takes place in Seattle,WA, the hometown of developer Sucker Punch.  The city isn’t an exact copy, but rather a fictional Seattle that focuses on some of the main attractions, as seen in the video.  The inFAMOUS Second Son E3 trailer takes us on a short history lesson between Deslin and his brother Reggie.  Deslin appears to be a troubled kid who somehow go involved with bio-terrorism, but appears to have retained some finer qualities that a good human possesses.  He evn goes as far as discussing “saving people” with his brother… after a short visit to Seattle of course.  With his new found powers he decides to enter Seattle, where the DUP (The Department of Unified Protection) is stationed to prevent bio-terrorist like him from entering the city.  Here is where we see him in both trailers destroying UDP soldiers while doing a fly by the space needle.  Both trailers end at the same spot, so be sure to check them both out to fully understand what’s going on.

 

inFAMOUS Second Son Gameplay Trailer

inFAMOUS Second Son gameplay doesn’t appear to be much different from the previous installments of inFAMOUS.  Deslin Rowe, the main character in inFAMOUS Second Son, has the ability to absorb super powers from other super humans/conduits.  In this gameplay trailer we really only see his ability to use both smoke and fire, something that appears to be the only thing released so far.  I’m not sure how they additional powers would integrated, or whether you’d have to absorb them when you want to use them, or if you could switch back and forth at will.  The only thing really new here is the powers that Deslin has over the previous 2 main characters.  In the inFAMOUS Second Son gameplay trailer we can see Deslin using smoke powers to travel through vents, shoot fire balls from his hands, shoot mega fire balls to blow stuff up, use his chain on his wrist as a fire chain melee weapon, and use his rocket hands to fly across the sky.  There also might be some sort of ultimate there at the end of the video as he flies by the space needle.  It’s hard to tell if it’s theatrical or if it will actually be in the game.  If you’re a fan of the previous two inFAMOUS games, this one is likely to please you.

This is also the first time Sucker Punch has used a real city instead of a fictitious one.  They redesigned Seattle to include famous landmarks, however the city is not an exact copy of the real Seattle.  I’m just curious if the guys are still going to throw fish at the Fish Market, or if you can take the underground tour.  (You guys do know the original Seattle is actually buried underneath what is now today Seattle right?)

 

inFAMOUS Second Son is scheduled for a Q1 2014 release.
