MMORPG Rift Going Free To Play in June
While some followers of RPG’s may think Rift going free to play is a sign of its downfall, Trion Worlds believes differently. Trion Worlds feels it’s time to introduce a wave of new players, by offering Rift as a free to play MMORPG. They believe the game and the player base is ready to play an amazing MMORPG free of charge. Of course free to play games always offer their paying players just a wee bit more.
Rift Going Free to Play
With Rift going Free to Play, there are some drawbacks to having a free account. Players can only access the vanilla content, meaning they’re able to play everything that was released during the initial release. Not only is the content limited to the areas of the game, but also includes the “souls” and gear as well. So players looking to move forward with expansive content will need to purchase whatever package Rift is willing to provide in that instance. In addition, free to play players will only have access to two character slots, and three bag slots, instead of five or six.
In addition to the new free to play setup for new players, old players will also reap some benefits as well. Players who pay for subscriptions will gain access to daily XP boost, earn 15% more currency, receive bonus tokens, 10% faster mount speed, daily boost to PvP rewards, daily boost to reputation gains, daily summons, and increased veteran rewards for players who’ve subscribed longer. Players who have been playing Rift since it began, should be pleased with their award package for their long term loyalty.
Also, to add a new twist to the player market with Rift going free to play, Rift will also be selling REX. REX stands for Rift Exchange, or more simply, a digital currency that can purchased with real money. The benefit to REX is unlike most video games, the currency can be traded and sold on the auction house between players. Meaning the players set the in-game cost on real life currencies. Trion Worlds believes this will also hurt the gold-seller market as well as create a more stable player market.
While I can’t say much about Rift today, I did play it when it first released and even reached maximum level at that time. It was rather entertaining and I’d suggest anyone interested in MMORPG’s give Rift a shot as it was quite enjoyable during my time playing.

I wonder if it worth going from NeverWinter to Rift
This is bad news for. I was addicted to Rift for about a year…
