Final Thoughts and Conclusion
My conclusions about the Noctua NH-U14S cooler is that it is very well made. I would say that it should be able to compete with any low to mid closed loop coolers, specifically the ones that use 120 mm rads. Noctua has put out another cooler that doesn’t disappoint and having the slightly bigger than 140 mm fans I think helped it also in comparison to the NH-U12S cooler that Dorkstar has reviewed. Everything you need comes packaged with the cooler and depending on what case and CPU you are using it with then you may want to pick up an extra NF-A15 to go along with the prepackaged one. Temps and sound levels were under what Noctua had put out for their technical specs and everything was very easy to install. I would say my only complaint about this cooler is how the fan mount onto it. I’m sure Noctua has a good reason why they wanted to do it this way but I’ve never been a big fan on the wire brackets that clip to the heat sink and this includes my current Noctua NH-U12P cooler I am presently using with my i7-920.
Also if you are using the first generation core 1366 socket processors this cooler will fit. All you have to do is get in touch with Noctua with a proof of purchase and they will send you out the mounting brackets for free.
Pros:
- Easy Installation
- Comes with everything needed to installation
- Low noise levels
- Great temps over stock coolers
- Same Great quality as other Noctua products
Cons:
- Possible better fan mounting system then wire bracket snaps
