From the benchmarks here you can see the GTX 780 excels at almost every game it touches with older games such as Battlefield 3 or new ones such as Metro: Last Light further than the GTX 680 did at 1920×1080 on max settings receptive to the games Nvidia tested.

Now this is the GTX 780 is really shining also is being ran in SLI. Metro: Last Light almost doubled performance, which except for a couple of the more intensive games was the result almost every time.

Overall the Geforce GTX 780 looks like an awesome card but you will still pay premium prices for the it. The GTX 780 according to Nvidia will start out at $649 and go up in comparison to the GTX 680 that released at $499. The performance on the Geforce GTX 780 is awesome and gets better and better when in SLI. This still isn’t a full blown Titan even though it looks similar using the same chip, PCB, and cooling technology and you won’t be able to flash it to one either. The difference in hardware makes this impossible but would definitely be an awesome card to own.

  1. I wished they replaced the GTX 680 with this card, rather than placing it at a higher price point.

I have read speculations that Nvidia strategy could be to target only super enthusiast (who can SLI two GTX 780 and beat a Titan) or those who haven’t upgraded from a GTX 480 or GTX 580.

Nevertheless this can be a great choice for those who have 1440p monitors and don’t want to pay the extra for a Titan.

  2. At $660 on newegg, this is a huge jump in price from the price of the gtx680, I realize that Nvidia is going after the ultimate performance, but it seems difficult to rationalize such a large price jump for good, but not hugely substantial improvements.
