Nvidia GPU Boost 2.0 Used on 600 Series With BIOS Update

Use Nvidia GPU Boost 2.0 with 600 Series GPUs With BIOS Update

If you own an Nvidia 600 series GPU that is a 660Ti or above you may be able to flash the BIOS on your GPU and be able to take advantage of Nvidia’s GPU Boost 2.0 technology that is currently on the Nvidia 700 series GPUs. Over on the Chiphell forums the user “Cherubim” has been working on a BIOS update to make the process simple and easy. The expected completion date for the new BIOS to use GPU Boost 2.0 on Nvidia GPUs is about 2 weeks. Below are screenshots of performance gains with having GPU Boost 2.0 on a GTX 680 over GPU Boost 1.0.

What is the difference between GPU Boost 1.0 and GPU Boost 2.0?

According to Nvidia’s webpage about the GTX Titan is GPU Boost 2.0 is described as this,

NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0 intelligently monitors clock speed, ensuring that the GPU runs at its peak and the game is at its highest frame rate possible. Enjoy new levels of customization with advanced controls like GPU temperature target, overclocking, and over voltage.

Overall the importance of GPU Boost 2.0 was to allow the user the ability to have even faster clocks on their GPUs and have their graphics cards will last and be reliable since GPU Boost 1.0 would let you have a good boost but didn’t take into consideration temperatures so cards with inadequate cooling solutions would run hotter than normal and as we all know the high the temps that something constantly runs at could not last as long.
