Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 Benchmark and Release!

Today was the official release of the Nvidia Geforce  GTX 770, along side of that Nvidia released the GTX 770 benchmarks to show it off.  It was only yesterday that we reported on the leaked specs of the GTX 770 and today we can confirm the specs along with the GTX 770 price.

Now that the official specs are out for the Geforce GTX 770, we can directly compare it to the Geforce GTX 680 and see what improvements Nvidia has done.  Remember, this card uses the exact same chip as the GTX 680, so they really got to squeeze the lemon to get more juice out of this GPU.

Geforce GTX 770 Benchmark

The first benchmark released by Nvidia shows a direct gaming comparison to the Geforce GTX 680.  As was estimated long before it’s release, we’re seeing somewhere around 10% performance increase in demanding games.  However, I don’t think anyone anticipated such a large improvement in the less demanding games as we see now.  With the GTX 770 Benchmark below, we’re seeing a 26% increase in Shogun 2: Total War, a 24% increase in Sleeping Dogs, 20% increase in Battlefield 3, and  an 18% increase in Crysis 3.

Note the benchmark is in 2560×1600 resolution on Max game settings.  That’s rather impressive.

Geforce GTX 770 Benchmark in SLI

Next up is the GTX 770 benchmark in SLI.  In ths benchmark the GTX 770 is compared to itself in SLI.  While we can’t see the exact numbers, Nvidia says this GTX 770 SLI benchmark shows an average improvement of 98%.  By eyeballing the chart they provided, that looks to be about correct, which is flat out amazing.

Nvidia goes on to say that they have fine tuned SLI performance using a new evaluation tool named FCAT.  FCAT supposedly allows Nvidia to fine tune SLI configurations to reduce stuttering that plagued some SLI users in the past.  If this was a problem for you in the past, they seem fairly confident it won’t be an issue with the 700 series.

Geforce GTX 770 Benchmark and Overall Review

When directly comparing the GTX 770 to Geforce GTX 680, it’s easy to see the GTX 770 is a huge success.  With performance increases on average around 20%, and a price $100 lower, who can complain?  Furthermore, GPU Boost 2.0 was released with the 700 series cards giving you maximum performance when there’s room for it.

Overall the Geforce GTX 770 was a huge success, and the GTX 770 benchmarks are very impressive.

Are you ready to take the plunge?  As I wrote this article, retailers were literally adding the GTX 770 to their stock.  Here’s a few we found on Amazon, note the 4GB Version is around $450, totally worth the extra $50.
