Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 to Cost More than GTX 680
We have been hearing rumors on and off about the launch dates and cost of Nvidia’s new GTX cards. New details about the GTX 780 are coming to light about how it could become the single highest flagship launch price ever for Nvidia. With rumors that the GTX 780 will be closer to the Titan in terms of performance since it will be using the same GK110 chip as the Titan.
Now lets look at this. When the GTX 680 launched it has a price point of $499 MSRP back in March of last year. While the GTX 680 has outstanding performance it was definitely dethroned in those terms by the GTX Titan that Nvidia released at the price point of $999. Now if rumors are true that the GTX 780 is going to be closer in performance to the Titan than the GTX 680, Then it would seem to me that Nvidia would be taking a huge lose to release the GTX 780 at the same or close to price point of the GTX 680. Now I would hope that since the rumors are the GTX780 is going to be close but not quite as good as the GTX Titan that it would be priced in the $700-800 range but that is still a huge price step and would make it Nvidia’s pricest flagship card to date for a series launch.
Their are still alot of other questions to answer such as benchmarks and specifications that Nvidia has not shown us or someone has leaked but it does pose an interesting question to how powerful and efficent power wise the new GTX 700 series graphics cards will have. Other questions you could ask also if you go by the rumors is if the GTX 780 will just be a rebranded GTX Titan with not quite as much performance? Another is if maybe the from the rumors we are hearing of different model Titans could this be one of them?
While everything or nothing could be true it still is nice to know that Nvidia is working card to bring us some awesome future hardware and by the end of the month we should have some more details.

Pocket burning GPUs… its hard to upgrade again n again, yeah but Technology upgrades matter if we are Professional.
I think that’s a common trend in new graphic cards. The latest released are always more expensive than the previous then the previous cards also get lower price. It would be stupid if the newer cards are cheaper wherein they are better in performance. That would totally kill the market for the older cards which are still being sold.
I don’t like this trend. Najiro, sure the new cards need to be sold at a higher price point than current ones, but one would simply expect the previous generation to fall in price rather than just increasing the release price of the new cards.
Nvidia probably plans to do so because there are no games so demanding to require much more horsepower than we currently have, so the 780 looks like an upgrade only for those who don’t need it bu can afford it.
However I am not sure the move to increase the price tag will pay off.
Already now, AMD with the aggressive pricing and game bundles is increasing its market share.
Seeing that its suggested price is around $700-$800 here isn’t that surprising, considering some GTX 680’s can go above $700 now.
But I do agree that having the base GTX780 being priced so high may not pay off.
