A Mid Range Graphics Card With The Advantages Of Ray Tracing
The Consumer Electronics Show is here and in full swing. Last nights NVIDIA Keynote saw company giving big news for new graphics cards at a lower cost. You would have seen Jensen Huang give a lot of technical talk during his speech. The main reason people would have tuned in though was to hear the big announcements. Mr. Huang said the RTX 2060 graphics cards are finally coming out, putting the rumors to rest. In a weeks time, the RTX 2060 will be available anywhere you buy graphics cards. The RTX 2060 will run you $350 and will be more powerful than a 1070ti. This means the RTX 2060 will be priced about the same as the GTX1070 was at MSRP.
The 2060 Graphics Cards Will Come With The Same Technology The 2080 And 2070 Cards Came With
The new 2060 graphics card will have Ray Tracing included just like the 2080 and 2070 before it. This gives gamers the power they’re looking for at mid-range prices. Mr. Huang even touted the fact that companies are excited to start working on games featuring Ray Tracing. Game Developers want to give a more beautiful experience at a fraction of the workload in games. Since the cryptocurrency boom has passed, hopefully, these cards will start to sell at better prices in the coming year. $350 sounds like a pretty good deal considering how high the 1070ti graphics cards sold for at the height of the crypto mining onslaught.
The Price For This Card Is Right On Point With 1070 Graphics Cards
You might be thinking that this price is a little expensive, but considering you’ll be getting around a 60% performance boost compared to the 1060 graphics card, that makes the pricing about right for the card. The RTX 2060 gives you all the new tech you’d want from the RTX series cards including Ray Tracing and the new Tensor Cores that have been added. The RTX 2060 graphics card comes equipped with a 1365MHz base clock and 1680MHz boost clock. The real meat of this card is going to be the new Tensor Cores that gives the ability for deep AI learning. It has 240 Tensor Cores which can give 52 Teraflops of precise floating point operations of performance.
There Were Plenty Of Demos In Last Nights Keynote
The live stream showed all kinds of different demos with the new technology in action along with Mr. Huang pointing out the advantages of the new NVIDIA cards.
Many People Are Hoping AMD Can Step Up To The Plate With A Competitive Graphics Card Line
You would have also noticed that many people in chat wanting cards to have a better price than $350. This is why people are hoping AMD will come out with something that can stand up to NVIDIA with the RTX line of cards. Another announcement made with the new graphics cards coming out next week is that Bioware’s Anthem is going to dedicate themselves to using RTX in upcoming titles. Finally, there will be new games coming with RTX enabled.
