NZXT Sentry Mix 2 First Impressions
I have never personally owned a fan controller for my rig but I have used them and I am digging the NZXT Sentry Mix 2. Truth be told I never thought I really needed one but when NZXT let us know they would be sending one our way, one that technically hadn’t even been released at the time, I was giddy to try it out in my Cooler Master HAf 932 case. I also went and used it on our test bench we build that has hastily mounted fans around.
As you can see from the two pictures above, the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 fit perfectly in my case. Installation was as simple as using the tool less 5.25″ bay of unlocking and locking the fan controller into place. With the front of my case being mostly black, the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 fit like a glove.
Look and Feel of the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller
The weight of the fan controller isn’t to heavy or to light and the construction feels solid. It is a metal frame with plastic face but doesn’t feel flimsy or like it is going to fall apart in your hands. While the sliders aren’t the easiest to move, you are able to move them with one finger but they can be slightly still out of the box. NZXT went to the trouble to make the Senty Mix 2 able to blend in and fit in almost any case with its 5 different colors you can change the LEDs to. These colors include red, white, blue, orange, green, or if you hold down the LED button for about five seconds then the LEDs will turn off.
Conclusion
While the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 isn’t going to revolutionize fan controllers, it is still a very nice fan controller if you aren’t looking for the flash of a LCD screen. I personally don’t like a flashy LCD screens, so this fan controller fits very well with my case since it blends in. I love the design and how pretty much everything matches but gives you the option to have some of that flash with the ability to change the LED colors of the front. Having the removable cables are freaking awesome to help with clutter and cable management if you don’t have 11tybillions fans in your case. If you do though then I would suggest picking up a few NZXT Grid‘s which will give the ability to controller 10 fans per channel.
Pros:
- 6 Channels
- 30 Watts per channel
- All black finish
- 5 different LED colors
- Very simple to use
Cons:
- None
Currently you can purchase the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 from their website for $29.99.
