Final Thoughts and Conclusion
You can’t go wrong with a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. The 256 GB I think is a perfect size for a person a budget but will have enough room to put everything important on their SSD. Between friends and family I always get the question of what is the ideal size for the average user and I always go with the 240-256 GB capacity. It gives you enough room for your operating system, most used programs and then some, and last but not least for gamers the room to install their favorite games such as for me Battlefield 4, Far Cry 3, and a couple other smaller games when I do decide to fill mine up. One of the things I do love to do is install say Steam and Origin on my SSD and then install actual games on my HDD that I keep for mass storage.
Now while the ModCrash staff is split between what brand is best since I love my Samsung, f1ss1on loves his Corsair Neutron, and Dorkstar uses two Mushkin 120 GB SSDs in RAID I do have to say that I love my Samsung and will one day RAID another one together. The Samsung 840 Pro itself I have no issues with and my only complaint would be that they don’t include a 3.5″ to 2.5″ tray with the hard drive. I got this SSD with the intentions of using it in my gaming PC and not a laptop. Luckily every case I have used it in which includes multiple sizes and manufacturers their trays have had the screw holes for a 2.5″ but someone with an older case may need to purchase additional equipment or even better do a case mod!
