Seasonic certifies their line of PSUs that are ready for Intel Haswell
As with earlier articles posted here at ModCrash, we found out Seasonic has released their list of power supplies (PSUs) that will be compatible with Intel Haswell chips on day one. If you haven’t seen the other articles you can read about it here but the a short rundown of what it is. Intel has added two new C States in the form of C6 and C7 that will be used for when the chip is at idle. Now that doesn’t seem like a big deal but since Intel Haswell will drop power usage to 0.05 amps and Ivy Bridge was 0.5 amps that is a huge difference. Now the reason manufactures are releasing list of compatible power supplies is because if you look at specifications for PSUs you don’t see the lowest usage it can handle without under volt protection kicking in.
Here is the list of Seasonic compatible PSUs:
Seasonic Platinum Series
- 1200W
- 1000W
- 860W
- 760W
Seasonic Platinum Fanless Series
- 520W
- 460W
- 400W
Seasonic X-Series
- 1250W
- 1050W
- 850W
- 750W
- 650W
Seasonic G-Series
- 650W
- 550W
- 450W
- 360W
Seasonic M12 II Evo Edition Series
- 850W
- 750W
As with the Corsair list this could be changing and if you do not have a Seasonic PSU on this list then check Seasonic’s website to see if your PSU will be on the list of compatible PSUs. Now as stated in the other articles that even if your manufacturer does not say that your PSU is not Haswell ready that doesn’t mean you can’t still use it. Intel has told motherboard manufacturers to make sure in the BIOS you can disable the C6 and C7 states. This is a power saving feature but you do not have to have it enabled.
