These games will push your GPU to its limits
Top 5 Most Graphically Demanding PC Games
#5- Far Cry 3
Dunia Engine 2
Far Cry 3 is a gorgeous game with realistic landscapes, people, animals, and explosions (of which there are many). With its open world gameplay and tons of island vegetation, it’s no surprise that Far Cry 3 pushes the capabilities of graphics cards. Frame rate came out to 41 FPS.
#4- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
REDengine with Havok Physics
Übersampling is the culprit for this game’s low frame rate. Übersampling (aka Super Sampling Anti Aliasing) causes the game to render at 4K, then downsize that image to fit your display; in this case to fit the 1920×1080 testing display. Without this option The Witcher ran at a smooth 60+ FPS, but Übersampling jumped its overall frame rate to 32.62 FPS. If your rig can handle it, however, Übersampling is an awesome option that will max out the graphics for this intense gladiator style game.
#3- Crysis 3
CryEngine 3
Ah, Crysis makes another place on this list, and we’re not surprised. Heavy particle effects, high-resolution textures, and crazy physics make this a game that will definitely stand the test of time. “Exploding barrels of gasoline” caused the biggest dip to 13 FPS, but average frame rate turned out to be 28.08 FPS.
#2- Tomb Raider (2013)
Modified Crystal Engine
Had we ever seen such beautifully rendered hair before the Tomb Raider reboot? AMD’s TressFX setting was to thank, and in combination with the same Übersampling tactic as in The Witcher 2 caused this game to nearly top the list of most graphically demanding PC games. Without Übersampling you can expect some jagged edges, but a massive playability increase to 45 FPS. At highest settings, average frame rate came to 24.8 FPS.
#1- Metro Last Light
4A Engine
The first Metro game packed a graphics punch when it came out, and the second installment to the series is even more jam-packed. PhysX effects, extreme tessellation, and tons of particle and water effects helped boost this game to the top. At max settings, you can expect an average of 22.3 FPS.
