Velocity Micro M35 AMD FX-9000 series desktop was announced on Tuesday. For those with the heart to follow AMD to the end, and the budget to back it up, this pre-built computer may be your answer. The Velocity Micro M35 starts at $2,799 and only increases in price as you add more options. For those looking to get their hands on the AMD FX-9370, or the FX-9590 the Velocity Micro M35 may be the answer. I’ll dive into exactly what you’re getting for such a steep price, and let you decide if it’s worth it.
The Velocity Micro M35
The standard $2,799 build features the following:
| Case | Fractal Design Define R4 |
| CPU | AMD FX-9370 |
| PSU | “Corsair 850W” |
| Motherboard | “ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0” |
| CPU Cooling | “Velocity Micro LiquiCool 6 Fluid Cooling System” |
| DDR3 Memory | 8GB DDR3 – 1600Mhz Quad Channel (2x4GB) |
| GPU | 3GB HD 7950 |
| Audio | On-Board 7.1 HD Audio |
| SSD | 120GB Intel 520 Seris |
| HDD | 1TB 7200 RPM |
| Optical Drive | Blu-Ray Reader, DVD-RW/CD-RW Drive |
| Operating System | Windows 8 64 Bit, with Disk. |
The following items were the only ones worth mentioning. Also included is a 30 day trial of Stardock, a Microsoft keyboard and mouse, and some other “fluff”. All in all the Velocity Micro M35 really seems to be one of those systems, or perhaps companies, that attempt to deceive their consumers. The fact that model numbers or any further information is specified about the PSU, motherboard, cooling system, RAM, GPU, or hell… most of the build, just reads shady to me.
I can’t put too much weight into the unknowns, because Velocity Micro hasn’t been one to release a bad product yet, however their marketing through the custom-built section just screams rip-off. As a PC enthusiast I want to know exactly what I’m getting, however as PC gamer, I just want it up and running as quick as I can. So you be the judge if it’s worth buying a “Corsair 850W” PSU. Personally, I’d want to know if it’s silver, gold, or platinum rated.
In all honesty, I’m not saying you shouldn’t go out and buy the Velocity Micro M35 if you are a true AMD fan. However, I do think there are better builds out there for a lower price. Velocity Micro doesn’t do a good job at telling us what’s inside the Velocity Micro M35, but they do take care of building it for us, and I’m sure they’re good at that.
If you’re a hardcore gamer who has no interested in building a computer, I’d suggest contacting Velocity Micro first and finding out exactly what you’re getting. I’m not doubting their abilities to build a solid rig, I just think you have the right to know what you’re paying for, especially if it’s $2799.
If you’re looking into buying a pre-built AMD FX-9370 or AMD FX-9590 system, go ahead and check out the Velocity Micro M35. Just make sure to ask questions before spending that much cash.
