Wolfenstein the New Order Revealed!
Wolfenstein fans everywhere can rejoice today, as Bethesda Softworks has announced another game in the legendary Wolfenstein gaming series called Wolfenstein the New Order. The last attempt at reviving this franchise was done by Raven Studios and published by Activision. While the game wasn’t overly terrible, it had faults that caused sales to not meet expectations and later resulted in layoffs over at Raven Studios. Bethesda Softworks however is known to release some real stunners, and have seemingly began to cross into the darker side of gaming, announcing both their horror game The Evil Within and now Wolfenstein The New Order.
It should be noted that Bethesda Softworks is not actually developing the game, MachineGames, who just so happens to be owned by Bethesda Softworks will be developing the game.
Looking into Wolfenstein the New Order
Information is scarce right now about the game, but we were able to dig up a few things. First off though, let’s check out the announcement trailer.
From earlier reports we know the game is based in an alternate universe sometime in the 1960’s. With that being said, I can only assume the Nazi’s have won WWII and have taken over the world with their giant mech-like war machines. Of course our epic hero at the end of the video is seen holding what looks like either over-sized pistols or steam punk versions of shotguns, facing an army of these machines as if it’s “no thang”.
By visiting the MachineGames website, we can learn a little bit. On their page it says :
MachineGames is currently working on an unannounced project for ZeniMax publishing subsidiary, Bethesda Softworks, that is being built on id Software’s revolutionary id Tech® 5 engine technology.
I’d say our chances of this being about Wolfenstein the New Order are rather high if not definite. So what does this mean? Well we can take a look at other games built on this engine and get an idea of what kind of game we’ll be playing here. For instance, this is a screenshot from RAGE, that was also built on the id Tech 5 engine.
Release Date and Platforms
The exact release date for Wolfenstein the New Order is still unknown, however Bethesda Softworks did says it would come out later this year. Wolfenstein the New Order will be available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

It would be cool if they use id Tech 5 engine, but I hope that the game turns out better than Rage did
Was RAGE that bad? I never got a chance to play it, but the videos I just saw while writing the article made it look rather cool.
I haven’t played it either, but all the comments I read give it a poor rating. The game had great graphics, but the gameplay was really lame.
