Microsoft backtracks on Xbox One Used Games and Always Online Policies

Microsoft makes changes to its policies in regard to the Xbox One

Since the official launch of the Xbox One and all the details that were let out of the bag at E3, Microsoft has gotten a lot of bad press for its used games and always online policies. Microsoft has been steadfast about their old policies which if you are unfamiliar with can read about here. Well those are now outdated since Microsoft has backtracked on their Xbox One policies.

Xbox One Always Online

Microsoft announced on their Xbox One press page that their will no longer be needing a always on or daily check in online to play games. This is only for disc based games on the Xbox One, if you have a digital downloaded game then you will still be required be online to play it so if you are one that still likes to have games on disc then this is a huge win for you.

Xbox One and Used Games

The other big topic is used games and what you can do with them. Before it was you could trade them in but the retailer had to get a code for the next person and its a huge ordeal that wouldn’t even let you give your best friend a game to use. Well that is no longer an issue. Microsoft Xbox One will now act like it currently does with the Xbox 360. You can buy, sell, and trade games on a whim and if you feel the need to loan all your games your friend you can now do so without any issues of if he will be able to use them or not.

Well Microsoft has had a pretty bad year in the press. Between the Xbox One and Windows 8 it seems like they might finally understand to listen to the gamers or users. Changing these two huge and unpopular policies is a major win for gamers and definitely should give Microsoft some good press for the Xbox One considering Sony is basking in the sunlight with basically giving gamers what they want.
