Now AMD hasn’t released an official press release or statement about the new AMD Radeon HD 9000 series nor does this give any specifications or features of the new series but this is as close to a confirmation as we will get without AMD actually coming out and saying it. The training program has been reported to start on September 26th, 2013 so that is even more fuel in the fire that the AMD Radeon HD 9000 series will be launching in October 2013.

With Nvidia releasing their 700 series that currently has the best cards on the market with their GTX Titan and GTX 780, the hope is that the new AMD Radeon HD 9000 series will be able to match at least the GTX 780 and close the gap with the GTX Titan. Nvidia says it does not plan on adding anymore cards to their 700 series lineup until at least next year or when AMD releases their new lineup of cards. So another question about the entire GPU market is what will Nvidia counter with this year since it seems all but certain the AMD Radeon HD 9000 series looks to be releases here in about 2-3 months. Now the waiting game is for details of the new series. Reports on Sapphire letting their clients use their version of the Radeon HD 9970 “Curacao XT” GPU but not a lot of details have been released about it.

Rumored Specifications of the AMD Radeon HD 9000 Series, specifically 9900 series.

  • 12 layer PCB
  • 512 bit memory interface
  • Two CrossfireX connectors
  • Dual fan cooler reference design
  • 250W TDP
